When i went on YouTube today, and tried to comment on a video, a dialog popped up asking me if i wanted to start using my real name when I comment. You are offered the option to reject, but if you do, you must state why you want to use a username instead of your real name. Apparently, YouTube is using this new feature to fight spam and people who post hateful comments by getting people to post as their full name.

Most people are going to go ahead and continue to use a username instead of their real name. Not many people on the internet will show people their real name, whether its because they are posting hateful comments, or for other reasons. This new feature is not really a good way to fight the spam that YouTube gets. YouTube should just hire a department to handle all the spam reports, it would make life easier.
